Brautigam, City Manage~~~~S, DATE: August 30, 2004 IrIITIATED BY: Fred Hahn, Director of Grounds of Facilities RE: Shannon Glen Park Development Project SUMMARY: On Wednesday, August 25, 2004 bids were opened for the Shannon Glen Park Development Project. The budgeted amount for this project is $250,000, which is included in the 2004 Capital Improvement Program. The estimated cost for this project was $242,739.23. In analyzing the discrepancy between the estimated cost versus the actual bid amounts, staff has determined that we substantially under estimated the costs of the masonry walls- In discussions with the low bidder, this discrepancy amounts to approximately $30,000. Staff feels the lowest best bid is a fair amount, reflective of the required cost associated with the project. Four (4) bids were received. Base Bid l Central Ohio Building $322,900.00 2). Greater Columbus Construction, Inc. $328,000.00 3). Mid-West Landscape Inc. $277,694.00 4). The Nadalin Company Inc. $328,000.00 This project consists of the labor, materials and equipment for the construction of sidewalks, gazebo, playground and associated safety surfacing, seating walls, site amenities and landscaping in the Shannon Glen Park. RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending adoption of Ordinance no. 62-04, accepting Mid-West Landscape's base bid in the amount of $277,694.00. Mid-West Landscape Inc. has done previous work for the City of Dublin and staff has found their work to be satisfactory. ~J o r_; ~ l< (yam;' _ m m o W ~ ~ U' ooR V ~ ~ r' o0-c m ~ ~ ~~ma ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ E ~ f- E-~vy Z ~aN~ O c a ~ o y~ m J ~ , N W 0 2 W Wg xa~ W ~ Z O V Q J ~ ~ ~ \1 O~ ~ V O m LL ~ ~ Z ~ ~ O G= ~ ~ a~ m <a ~ Z> Z~ ~ ~ W WO r F- ~ ~ ~ o~ ~o > > ~ ~°a ~ ~ - Y C7 ~ S~ c ~ OL 1 ,f, a m ~i o t (j a~i io U OZ ~ ~ t^ L c is ma a ~i ~ ~ ~mvv' ammw ~ ~ ~ ~ io o Z W ~ O - W O H NN ~ ~ . - _ Q _ ~Y ~ ~ ~ ~ W i J t~ Q t` ~I ~ ~I~ r ~ o 0 11' ~ .
