Form No. 30043 Ordinance No. 46-03 Passed , 20 AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE LOWEST/BEST BID FOR THE DARREE FIELDS PARHING LOT EXPANSION PROJECT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, after advertising, receiving and opening bids on Apri17, 2003 for the Darree Fields Parking Lot Expansion Project, Council has determined that the lowest and best bid for said proj ect is from Miller Pavement in the amount of $246,000; and WHEREAS, this is an approved 2003 Capital Improvements project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, Ohio, of the elected members concurring: Section 1. That the bid from Miller Pavement in the amount of $246,000.00 be, and hereby is, accepted. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with Miller Pavement for completion of said project pursuant to the bid specifications and documents on file in the Office of Grounds and Facilities. Section 3. That this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety or welfare, and emergency action is necessary in order to complete the project within the construction season. Therefore, this ordinance shall take effect upon passage. Passed this ~ day of /t/t 2003. Brautigam, City Manager(J~, 5. 4 DATE: April 14, 2003 INITIATED BY: Fred Hahn, Director of Grounds of Facilities RE: Darree Fields Parking Lot Expansion Project SUMMARY: On Monday, April 7, 2003 bids were opened for the Darree Fields Parking Lot Expansion Project. This project is an approved Capital Improvement Program. The publicly announced base bid was estimated at $274,000.00. Seven (7) bids were received. Base Bid 1) Columbus Asphalt Paving Inc. $289,900.00 2) McDaniel's Construction Corp., Inc. $322,500.00 3) Trucco Companies $289,000.00 4) Miller Pavement $246,000.00 5) Strawser Paving Co. $262,795.00 6) Decker Construction Co. $285,245.00 7) KMC Paving, Inc. $297,990.00 This project consists of an approximate 350 car parking lot to serve the additional soccer fields that were graded and seeded last year. RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending adoption of Ordinance No. 46-03, accepting Miller Pavement's base bid of $246,000,00.
