AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING
REQUIREMENTS, PURSUANT TO SECTION 8.04
("CONTRACTING PROCEDURES"), PARAGRAPH C
("WAIVER OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING") FOR THE
PROCUREMENT OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES (BEER
PRODUCTS) FOR THE DUBLIN IRISH FESTIVAL
WHEREAS, Section 8.04C of the Revised Dublin Charter authorizes Council, by a
vote of no less than five members, to waive competitive bidding requirements for
purchases above the City's $30,000 bidding threshold, if Council determines that the
item is available and can be acquired only from a single source, or if Council
determines that such waiver is in the best interest of the City; and
WHEREAS, Coors is the parent company of Killian's Irish Red, and Central
Beverage Group of Columbus is the sole distributor for Killian's Irish Red and Coors
products in Central Ohio; and
WHEREAS, Killian's Irish Red has served as a sponsor for the Dublin Irish Festival
over the past several years, contributing a substantial amount of financial and
promotional support to the Festival; and
WHEREAS, it would be in the City's best interest to designate the Central Beverage
Group of Ohio as the provider of Killian's Irish Red and Coors products at the 2003
Dublin Irish Festival due to the financial and marketing benefits this sponsorship
provides to the Festival and the City,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, LO of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the Central Beverage Group of Columbus is hereby designated as
the provider for Killian's Irish Red and Coors beer products for the 2003 Dublin Irish
Festival.
Section 2. That competitive bidding requirements are hereby waived for this
purchase.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the
earliest date allowed by law.
