AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME
OF FRONTAGE ROAD TO SHARP LANE
IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO
WHEREAS, the City has received a request to have the name of Frontage Road
changed; and
WHEREAS, City staff have determined that, due to its historical significance, an
appropriate name for this service road would be Sharp Lane; and
WHEREAS, the Dublin Division of Engineering and Division of Police have
reviewed this request and determined that this street name change would not be
detrimental to the public health or welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the name of Frontage Road be changed to Sharp Lane in the City
of Dublin.
Section 2. That the City Engineer be, and hereby is, directed to notify the
appropriate governmental agencies of this change and have street name signs installed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the
earliest date permitted by law.

Re: Ordinance 41-04 Requesting Approval to Change the Name of Frontage Road to
Sharp Lane in the City of Dublin, Ohio
Summary
The Division of Engineering, upon the request for street name signage from the Division of Police, is
requesting to change the name of Frontage Road to Sharp Lane (see the attached map). Frontage Road
is the service road installed as part of the widening of State Route 161 (SR 161) to allow access to
businesses on the south side of SR 161. Frontage Road is the name that was utilized to indicate this
road on the construction plans. Customers can access this road via traffic signals at Dale Drive and
Shamrock Boulevard.
This roadway is contained within public right-of-way and should have an official street name. Sharp
Lane was chosen because a large portion of the land in this area has been historically owned by the
Sharp family. The Sharp family has been contacted and does not object to their name being used to
identify the service road.
Addresses for the existing facilities in the area will be unaffected by this street name change. Current
addresses are off of SR 161 and will remain as such.
Recommendation
Staff recommends the adoption of the ordinance to change the street name of Frontage Road to Sharp
Lane. If adopted, Staff will notify the appropriate governmental agencies of this street name change
and the Division of Engineering will have the appropriate street name signs installed.
