AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF
MITCHELL-DEWITT ROAD TO BRAND ROAD
BETWEEN THE FRANKLIN COUNTY/UNION
COUNTY LINE AND HYLAND-CROY ROAD
IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO
WHEREAS, the Dublin Engineering Division has requested approval from the City
Council of the City of Dublin, Ohio for a change in the name of Mitchell-Dewitt
Road to Brand Road between the Franklin County/LJnion County line and Hyland-
Croy Road; and
WHEREAS, the Dublin Division of Police supports this request to better
accommodate the effective and efficient provision of Police services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin is desirous in maintaining commonly used roadway
names to provide effective and efficient Police, Fire and other services.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, _~ of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the name of Mitchell-Dewitt Road between the Franklin
County/Union County line and Hyland-Croy Road is hereby changed to Brand Road;
Section 2. That the City Engineer be, and hereby is, directed to have the plat
corrected to conform to this change;
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the
earliest period allowed by law.

Mitchell-Dewitt Road Name Change to Brand Road between the Franklin
County/iJnion County Line and Hyland-Croy Road

Presently, the section of roadway between Avery Road and Hyland-Croy Road is known by
two names, Brand Road, between Avery Road and the Franklin County/Union County line, and
Mitchell-Dewitt Road, from the Franklin County/Union County line to Hyland-Croy Road.
Although this roadway is located in both Franklin and Union counties, and thus has historically
been named within each county, the right-of--way is located within the corporate boundaries of
the City of Dublin.
As development continues to progress in the northwest portion of the City, the two names for
this section of roadway have caused confusion for those traveling within the area. Additionally,
this confusion could also delay Police and Fire service response times to the area.
The Engineering Division, with the support of the Division of Police, is recommending
Mitchell-Dewitt Road between the Franklin County/Union County line and Hyland-Croy Road,
be renamed to Brand Road.
With the recent demolition of the only remaining home located at 7197 Mitchell-Dewitt Road
(along the south side of the road), no existing residents will be affected by this name change.
Additionally, Dublin-Jerome High School is addressed from Hyland-Croy Road. Lastly, the
name of Mitchell-Dewitt Road west of Hyland-Croy Raod will remain as it is currently.
