YEAR AN ORDINANCE TO ACCEPT THE LOWEST/ BEST BID FOR THE AVERY ROAD WATER TANK EXTERIOR ROOF COATING REPLACEMENT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, after advertising, receiving and opening bids on July 10, 2002 three bids were received for Avery Road Water Tank -Exterior Roof Coating Replacement project; and WHEREAS, Council has determined that the lowest and best bid for said project is from American Suncraft Construction Company in the amount of $26,100.00; and WHEREAS, Council has determined that there may be a legitimate need to declare the relocation of the utilities in connection with the above-referenced project as a "single source" procurement, for reason that the company owning the utilities in question has the exclusive rights to relocate such utilities; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to execute this contract as soon as possible so that work can be completed during favorable weather. NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, Ohio, ~_ of the elected members concurring: Section 1. That the bid from American Suncraft Construction Company in the amount of $26,100.00 be, and hereby is, accepted. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with American Suncraft Construction Company for completion of said project pursuant to the bid specifications and documents on file in the office of the City Engineer. Section 3. That this Ordinance be, and the same hereby is, declared to be an emergency measure for the preservation of the public peace, health or welfare of the residents of this City, and, therefore, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage. Hammersmith, Interim Director of Engineering/City Engineer ~,/'~Q ~` Subject: Ordinance No. 98-02 Avery Road Water Tank -Exterior Roof Coating Replacement Project No. O1-012-CIP Date: July 17, 2002 At the June 17, 2002 City Council meeting, Council concurred with the staff recommendation to proceed with the painting of the exterior roof on the Avery Road water tank. Funds appropriated for oversizing of water lines, $50,000 in the 2002 Operating Budget, were to be utilized to complete this project in 2002. On July 10, 2002 three bids were received and publicly opened and read for the Avery Road Water Tank -Exterior Roof Coating Replacement project. All bids have been reviewed and it is recommended this contract be awarded to American Suncraft Construction Company, the lowest and best bidder. American Suncraft Construction Company's bid was $26,100.00. The Engineer's estimate was $38,500.00. The anticipated completion date is by the end of October of this year. I recommend approval of this contract to American Suncraft Construction Company. Attached is an emergency Ordinance for approval by City Council prior to awarding the contract to American Suncraft Construction Company.
