Harding, Director of Human Resources/Procurement Date: July 18, 2002 Re: Rock Salt Bid Process Memo Attached for your consideration please find Ordinance No. 97-02 accepting the lowest and best bid for rock salt and authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract for the procurement of said commodity. Also attached for your reference please find a copy of the bid tabulation. Bids were requested based upon an estimated quantity of 8,000 tons, which is consistent with the estimated quantity under the past contract. As reflected in the attached bid tabulation, the City received bids from the following suppliers: • Northern Salt Company • Cargill, Inc. • Morton International, Inc. As noted in the bid tabulation, the bid submitted by Cargill, Inc., in the amount of $34.97/ton for dump delivery and $36.97 for piler delivery, is the lowest bid. In addition, Cargill's bid is also in full compliance with the terms, conditions, and requirements within the City's bid documents. The City's present storage arrangement dictates that the bid for piler delivery be accepted; therefore, staff recommends that Cargill's bid in the amount of $36.97/ton be accepted. (For reference purposes please be advised that the price the City paid under the previous salt contract with Cargill was $32.50/ton). o ~ b~ to ~ ~ c o a: a a b o ~ ~ ~ ~, a ~ ;~ O ~ ~' i ~ v a n ~ t7 0 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ y ~ ~-. ~ ~ ' co R° r`~ 7~ 7~ n C" ° ~ o ~ ~ ~ ° v~ v~ ~'. v~ ~'. ° c. ;Y :~ r. ~ ~ ~ .r ~, ~s o~o ~ 00 00 00 F^,3 A y N A ~ O O O p ~ ~ ~ ~ O N `c O O O ~ O. ~.''~ ~ ~ ~ ~ o A~ o ~ ~ _ ' N p l77 ~ _ p ri7 w _ p Cr1 ~ _ 'b G ~ ~ ~~-s ~ ~ ~. ~ v, '~-r ~. ~ ~o ~ ~. o is '~ ~ ~ O ""~ ~ O w ~ ~ N ~ ~ w ~ ~ ~ ~ --~ C ~ ~ Q.. ~ ~ ~ ~ ONo Q.. ~ ~ td ~' ~. ~ .r.
