Hansley, City Manager Date: August 26, 1997 Re: Dry Cleaning/Laundry Services Bid (Ordinance No. 128-97) By: David L. Harding, Director of HR/Procurement Attached for your consideration please find Ordinance No. 128-97 accepting the lowest and best bid for dry cleaning/laundry services for the Division of Police. Also, attached for your review is a copy of the bid tabulation. This bid project is intended to provide for the dry cleaning/laundering of uniform items as defined in the current contract between the City of Dublin and the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge No. 9. (Under the existing labor contract, each officer is entitled to have up to ten uniform items dry cleaned/laundered per week.) Bids were sought by vendors via direct mailing and formal advertisements. The following vendors received bid documents for the project. * Swan Cleaners * Westerville Cleaners * Callander Cleaners * Sun Light Cleaning Centers * Dublin Cleaners ~.. * Country Fresh Cleaners and Coin Operated Laundry * The Golden Hanger As reflected in the attached bid tabulation, the City received two bids, one from Dublin Cleaners and another from Country Fresh Cleaners. As also noted on the attached bid tabulation, the bid submitted by Dublin Cleaners is, by a wide margin, the lowest bid. The bid also fully complies with the established bid specifications. The bid submitted by Country Fresh Cleaners ($102,341.50) is not only considered the higher bid, but is also incomplete. In the final analysis, the bid submitted by Dublin Cleaners, in the amount of $56,752.35 is the lowest and best bid. Staff, therefore, recommends that said bid be accepted. The term of the Contract, pursuant to the bid documents, would be from the date of execution, until August 31, 1998 with an option to renew for two (2) additional one year periods upon mutual agreement of both parties.
