AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 ("WAGE &
SALARY STRUCTURE/ADMINISTRATION"),
SUBSECTION 2.A OF ORDINANCE 98-96
("COMPENSATION PLAN").
WHEREAS, upon recommendation of the City Manager, Council has determined that Section
2 ("WAGE & SALARY STRUCTURE/ADMII~TISTRATION), Subsection 2.A of Ordinance
No. 98-96 ("Compensation Plan") should be amended for the purpose of re-titling the
"Director of Parks & Recreation job classification to "Director of Recreation Services"; and,
WHEREAS, Council has also determined that such amendment will help clarify and better
reflect the scope of responsibility, role, and primary mission of the position/classificationtyithin
the organization;
NOW, BEFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of
Ohio, of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. That Section 2 ("WAGE & SALARY STRUCTURE/ADMINISTRATION"),
Subsection 2.A be amended by deleting the "Director ofParks & Recreation" classification title
listed under the "Parks & Recreation" categorical heading contained therein and replacing such
title with the following:
"Director of Recreation Services"
Section 2. That Section 2. ("WAGE & SALARY STRUCTURE/ADMINISTRATION"),
Subsection A. of Ordinance No. 98-96 be amended by deleting the "Parks & Recreation"
categorical heading contained therein and replacing such heading with the following:
"Recreation"
i n 3 This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force on the earliest date permitted by
law.

Attached for your consideration is Ordinance No. 100-97 amending Section 2 ("WAGE &
SALARY STRUCTURElADMIlVISTRATION"), Subsection 2.A of the City Compensation Plan
(Ordinance No. 98-96) for the purpose of re-titling the "Director of Parks & Recreation" job
classification to "Director ofRecreation Services". This is companion legislation to Ordinance No.
99-97 which seeks to amend the City's "Functional Table of Organization" to reflect a change in
title for the Division of Parks & Recreation" to the "Division of Recreation Services".
~" As identified in the cover memo accompanying Ordinance No. 99-97, when the Department of
Service was reorganized in July 1996 and the Division of Grounds & Facilities was created, the
„~ Parks Maintenance function which, up until that time, was under the direction of the Director of
Parks & Recreation was reassigned to the new Division of Grounds & Facilities; however, the
Director of Parks & Recreation classification title remained unchanged.
Given the recent vacancy within the Director of Parks & Recreation position/classification, Staff
believes this would be an opportune time to re-title the position and officially designate the position
title as "Director of Recreation Services" within the City Compensation Plan (Ordinance No. 98-
96). Adoption of the amendment as proposed in Ordinance 100-97 would help clarify and better
reflect the Director position's scope of responsibility, role, and primary mission within the
organization. Staff also believes that it is especially important to clarify and better reflect the
position/classification's scope of responsibility, role, and primary mission prior to the selection of
a new Director and, therefore, recommends that Council adopt Ordinance No. 100-97 at its second
reading at the July 21, 1997 Council meeting.
