AN ORDINANCE TO ACCEPT THE LOWEST/
BEST BID FOR THE 1997 STREET MAINTENANCE
PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WI~REAS, after advertising, receiving and opening bids on June 4, 1997 for the 1997 Street
Maintenance Program; and
WHEREAS, Council has determined that the lowest and best bid for said project is from
Decker Construction Company, in the amount of $835,914.35; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to execute this contract as soon as possible
so that construction can take place during favorable weather conditions.
NOW THQtEFORE BE 1T ORDAINID by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of Ohio,
Of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the bid from Decker Construction Company, in the amount of
$835,914.35 be, and hereby is, accepted.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with
Decker Construction Company for completion of said project pursuant to the bid
"~"' specifications and documents on file in the office of the City Engineer.
i n That this Ordinance be, and the same hereby is, declared to be an emergency
"°""~ measure for the preservationof the public peace, health or welfare of the residents of this
City, and therefore this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its

Re: 1997 Street Maintenance Contract -Ordinance No. 88-87
A mathematical error of addition was discovered in the bid amount stated in the recently
approved Ordinance No. 88-97. The corrected amount should be $836,013.35 instead of '~
$835,914.35.
The new amount does not change any other facts. Decker Construction still remains the lowest
bidder. Should you wish to amend Ordinance No. 88.97, we will bring it back to you at the

next meeting. Otherwise this memo will serve as your acknowledgment of this change. The
corrected amount is being used in preparing the City's purchase order.

~'"' On June 4, 1997 bids were received and publicly opened and read for the 1997 Street
Maintenanc a Program, as previously submited to Council with a memorandum from the
City Engineer, dated Apri18, 1997. Bids were received as shown on the attached bid form.
All bids submitted have been reviewed and it is recommended that we award this contract
to the lowest, responsible bidder, Decker Construction Company of Columbus, Ohio.
Attached is an emergency Ordinance for approval by City Council prior to awarding this
contract to Decker Construction Company.
