Hansley, City Manager / Date: March 16, 1998 ` Re: Utility Van and Related Equipment Bid (Ordinance No. 20-98) By: David L. Harding, Director of HR/Procurement Spencer A. Isom, Procurement Specialist Attached for your consideration please find Ordinance No. 20-98 accepting the lowest and best bid for a utility van and related equipment for the Division of Engineering. Also, attached for your reference is a copy of the bid tabulation. This bid project involves the purchase of a utility van, cargo enclosure, aerial lift, and other related equipment for Citywide traffic engineering activities. Before seeking formal bids for this project, the Division of Engineering and the Division of Streets and Utilities compared and tested utility vans and related equipment from many manufacturers and developed detailed specifications based on functionality. Although the City invited competition from eleven different companies, we received a bid proposal from only one vendor: * Toombs Truck & Equipment Company, Inc. The bid submitted by Toombs Truck & Equipment Company, Inc. substantively complies with the City's equipment specifications and is thus responsive to the City's needs. Staff, therefore recommends that the bid from Toombs, for $61,142.40, be accepted. Attachments
