AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID
FOR THE AMBERLEIGH BOARDWALK-RIVER ACCESS
PROJECT, APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR,
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, after advertising and receiving bids on Tuesday, February 26, 2002 for the
Amberleigh Boardwalk-River Access Project, Council has determined that the bid
submitted by W. M. Brode Company in the amount of $163,549.00 (base bid) and
$6,000.00 (Bid Alternate 1) is the lowest and best bid for the project; and
WHEREAS, this project is an approved 2002 CIP project; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the annual appropriations measure to provide
funding authorization for the project; and
NOW, THEyREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State
of Ohio, of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the bid submitted by W. M. Brode in the amount of $163,549.00 (base
bid) and $6,000.00 (Bid Alternate 1) for the Amberleigh Boardwalk-River Access Project
is hereby accepted.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract for the
project as listed above, and as specified within the bid proposal and the City's bid
documents on file in the Division of Grounds and Facilities.
Section 3. That there be appropriated from the unappropriated balance in the Capital
Improvements Tax Fund the amount of $178,000 to account number 401-0314-780-2511
for the project.
Section 4. That this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety or welfare, and therefore the
ordinance shall be effective upon passage.

On Tuesday, February 26, 2002 bids were opened for the Amberleigh Boardwalk-River Access
Project. This project is an approved Capital Improvement Program.
The publicly announced base bid was estimated at $254,279.00. Four (4) bids were received.
Base Bid Bid Alternate #1
1). Nadalin Company $184,000.00 $ 5,200.00
2). Shaw & Holter Inc. $168,949.00 $12,296.00
3). W.M. Brode Company $163,549.00 $ 6,000.00
4). McDaniels Construction Corp. $350,000.00 $19,000.00
This prof ect consists of providing Scioto River access by means of a pedestrian path and wooden
boardwalk/stairs. The bid alternate consists of associated landscaping.
Staff is recommending acceptance of W.M. Brode Company's base bid of $163,549.00 and bid
alternate #1. W.M. Brode has received satisfactory references for similar type projects.
