AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF
TUTTLE ROAD TO TUTTLE CROSSING BOULEVARD
BETWEEN HIRTH ROAD AND WILCOX ROAD
IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO
WHEREAS, the Dublin Division of Police has requested approval from the City
Council of the City of Dublin, Ohio for a change in the name of Tuttle Road between
Hirth Road and Wilcox Road to Tuttle Crossing Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin is desirous in maintaining commonly used name to
provide effective and efficient Police, Fire and other services.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That the name of Tuttle Road, between Hirth Road and Wilcox Road, is
changed to Tuttle Crossing Boulevard.
Section 2. That the City Engineer be, and hereby is, directed to have the plat
corrected to conform to this change.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the
earliest period allowed by law.

Tuttle Road Street Name Change

The Division of Police has brought to our attention that the section of road between
Hirth Road and Wilcox Road has the legal name of Tuttle Road instead of Tuttle
Crossing Boulevard as the most commonly assumed name for this section of the road.
This situation also exists for another similar section of road between Frantz Road and
Dublin Road. However, at this time, we are asking your consideration for Tuttle Road
between Hirth Road and Wilcox Road.
Attached, please find a copy of a memorandum from the Dublin Division of Police, as
well as a memo from Engineering staff and a map showing the location of the affected
section of the road.

Re: Street Name Change -Tuttle Crossing Boulevard / Tuttle Road
I've recently been made aware that, once again, discussions are starting up about activity involving the
Tuttle Crossing area and would like another opportunity to request a street name change. I would like to
have the section of roadway on Tuttle Road between Hirth Road & Wilcox Road changed to Tuttle Crossing
Boulevard. This section of roadway has been a headache for public safety related forces for a long period of
time and I have listed several reasons below:
1. The street signs have been wrong for years by already listing this section as Tuttle Crossing
Boulevard when it is officially still Tuttle Road.
2. Wellesley Inn & Suites (aka: Homegate Suites) although built on Tuttle Road, was assigned a 5530
Tuttle Crossing Boulevard address.
3. The Franklin County 911 Coordinator has had problems maintaining accurate address ranges.
4. Police & Fire units have had delayed response times and difficulties in locating some address
numbers during emergencies.
5. The Franklin County Auditor/G.I. S., Franklin County Engineers Office Map, City of Dublin's G.I.S.,
City of Dublin's Land Management File, Dublin City Map, along with the Dublin Police & Fire
Communications Center's Computer-Aided Dispatcher System, all have this section of roadway
entered or displayed in their databases differently. I also recently learned that even the utility
companies have had problems with this situation.
I feel that if the street name change is approved, it will benefit everyone for all the above reasons.
