HomeMy WebLinkAbout036-01 Ordinance RECORD OF ORDINANCES Detyton Legal Blank Co Form No. 30043 Ordinance No...........36.-0.~ Passed AN ORDINANCE TO ACCEPT THE LOWEST/BEST BID FOR THE DUBLIN ROAD (S.R. 745)/ MEMORIAL DRIVE BIKEPATH TUNNEL PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF DUBLIN AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, after advertising, receiving and opening bids on March 14, 2001 bids were received for the Dublin Road (S.R. 745)/ Memorial Drive Bikepath Tunnel project; and WHEREAS, Council has determined that the lowest and best bid for said project is from Shaw and Holter, Inc., of Lancaster, Ohio, in the amount of $441,194.16; and WHEREAS, Council has determined that there may be a legitimate need to declare the relocation of the utilities in connection with the above-referenced project as a "single source" procurement, for reason that the company owning the utilities in question has the exclusive rights to relocate such utilities; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to execute this contract as soon as possible so that construction can start early in the spring of 2001, NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, Ohio, of the elected members concurring: Section 1. That the bid from Shaw and Holter, Inc. in the amount of $441,194.16 be, r~ and hereby is, accepted. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with Shaw and Holter, Inc., for completion of said project pursuant to the bid specifications and documents on file in the office of the City Engineer. Section 3. That this Ordinance be, and the same hereby is, declared to be an emergency measure for the preservation of the public peace, health or welfare of the residents of this City, and, therefore, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage. Kindra, Director of Engineering/City Engineer ~ Subject: Ordinance No. 36-01 Dublin Road (S.R. 745) Memorial Drive Bikepath Tunnel Date: March 14, 2001 On March 14, 2001 bids were received and publicly opened and read for the Dublin Road (S.R. 745) Memorial Drive Bikepath Tunnel project. Seven (7) bids were received, as shown on the attached Bid Results form. All bids have been reviewed and it is recommended that we award this contract to Shaw and Holter, Inc., the lowest and best bidder. Shaw and Holter, Inc.'s bid was $441,194.16. The Engineer's estimate was $615,000. Sufficient funds have been budgeted for this project in the current Operating Budget. The City is anticipating a grant of up to $361,000 from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources by May of this year. I recommend approval of this contract to Shaw and Holter, Inc. Attached is an emergency Ordinance for approval by City Council prior to awarding the contract to Shaw and Holter, Inc. BSK:jc Attachment
