AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID
FOR THE DARREE FIELDS EXPANSION PROJECT, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, after advertising and receiving bids on Thursday, August 9, 2001 for the
Darree Fields Expansion Project, Council has determined that the bid submitted by
Corna/Kokosing Construction in the amount of $93,800.00 (base bid) and $56,600.00
(Bid Alternate 1) is the lowest and best bid for the project; and
WHEREAS, this project is an approved 2001 CIP project.
NOW, THE FORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State
of Ohio, of the elected members concurring;
Section 1. That the bid submitted by Corna/Kokosing Construction in the amount of
$93,800.00 (base bid) and $56,600.00 (Bid Alternate 1) for the Darree Fields Expansion
Project is hereby accepted.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract for the
project as listed above, and as specified within the bid proposal and the City's bid
documents on file in the Division of Grounds and Facilities.
Section 3. That this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety or welfare, and therefore the
ordinance shall be effective upon passage.

On Thursday August 9, 2001, at 10:00 a.m., bids were opened for the Darree Fields Expansion Project. The
publicly announced base bid was estimated at $152,200.00. Six (6) bids were received:
1). Badger Excavating $156,000.00 Bid Alt. 1 $62,000.00
,~~. 2). Dinneen Excavating $168,710.00 Bid Alt. 1 $42,420.00
3). Corna/Kokosing $ 93,800.00 Bid Alt. 1 $56,600.00
4). The Nadalin Co. $164,000.00 Bid Alt. 1 $49,000.00
5). Strawser Paving $119,700.00 Bid Alt. 1 $66,450.00
6). George Igel Co. $178,728.00 Bid Alt. 1 $73,825.00
The project consists of stripping topsoil and stockpiling adjacent to the immediate area of work, grading for
sport fields and coordination with the City of Dublin for the stabilization of all disturbed areas during and
after construction. Staff is recommending acceptance of Corna/Kokosing's base bid of $93,800.00.
Corna/Kokosing has received satisfactory references for similar type projects.
Staff is also recommending acceptance of Bid Alt. 1 in the amount of $56,600.00. The alternate bid work
consists of the installation of storm drainage system and pollution prevention measures.
