Hansley, City Manager ~ ~ Initiated by: Dana L. McDaniel, Director of Service Date: January 26, 1999 Re: Recreation Center Furniture Bid Attached for your consideration please find Ordinance 12-99 accepting the lowest and best bid for furniture and related equipment for the City of Dublin Community Recreation Center, Phase II. Also, attached for your review, is a copy of the bid tabulation. This bid project involves the purchase of various classes of furniture and related equipment all to be installed as coordinated by the Division of Recreation Services and the design firm of WandelUSchnell. Prior to seeking formal bids for this project, the Recreation Services Division developed detailed specifications based on functionality in connection with the operation of the new phase of the Recreation Center. As a result of this early research by the Division of Recreation Services and Wandell/Schnell, furniture and related equipment were identified for purchase. As reflected in the attached bid tabulation, the City received bid proposals from the following vendors: • Continental Office • Costigan's Both companies provided complete bids. Continental was the lesser of the two bids by a difference of $3,504.17. Given the size and reputations of these two companies and the closeness of the bids, staff is comfortable that two bids are adequate and reflect the going market prices. Award conditions in the bid documents require that a single award be made on the basis of the lowest and best composite bid submitted. In the final analysis, Staff believes that the bid submitted by Continental Office is the lowest and best overall composite bid and, therefore, recommends that said bid be accepted.
