I~ AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID
I FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) DUMP BEDS AND RELATED
...... EQUIPMENT
- WHEREAS, Council has appropriated sufficient funds in its 1999 Capital Improvements
Budget to purchase two dump beds and related equipment; and
WHEREAS, formal advertising and competitive bidding procedures for new dump beds and
related equipment have been conducted; and
WHEREAS, Council has determined the bid submitted by Ace Truck Body, Inc. for the said
equipment constitutes the lowest and best bid, in the total amount of$58,728.00;
NOW, T(:REFORE' BE IT ORDAINED by the Council ofthe City of Dublin, State of
Ohio, of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. That the bid submitted by Ace Truck Body, Inc. for the above referenced
equipment, in the amount of$58,728.00, is hereby accepted.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Ace
Truck Body, Inc. for the procurement of said equipment as specified above and within said
bidder's bid proposal on file in the Division of Human Resources and Procurement.

permitted by law.

Re: Dump Beds and Related Equipment Bid
Attached for your consideration please find Ordinance 97-99 accepting the lowest and best bid
for two new dump beds and related equipment for the City of Dublin Division of Streets and
Utilities. Also, attached for your review, is a copy of the bid tabulation.
Approval of this bid will allow the City of Dublin to purchase new equipment for snow and ice
removal. All equipment will be installed by the bidder.
Prior to seeking formal bids for this project, the Division of Streets and Utilities developed
detailed specifications based on functionality and compatibility of new dump beds and related
equipment with the existing city vehicle fleet. The City of Dublin mailed bid specifications to
five companies. As reflected in the attached bid tabulation, the City received two bid proposals
from the following vendors:
. Buckeye Truck Equipment
. Ace Truck Body, Inc.
Both companies provided complete bids. Ace Truck Body, Inc. was the lesser of the two bids by
a total difference of $10,582.00. This difference includes two pieces of optional equipment on
~ the dump truck beds provided by Ace Truck Body, Inc. This optional equipment includes:
. Two upgraded snow plows at a total cost of$1,758.00
. Change from a gear box drive motor to a direct drive motor on two salt
......"'''''' spreaders for a total savings of $240.00
Given the size and reputations of the companies which bid, staff is comfortable that two bids are
adequate and reflect the going market prices.
Award conditions in the bid documents require that a single award be made on the basis of the
lowest and best composite bid submitted. In the final analysis, Staff believes that the bid
submitted by Ace Truck Body, Inc. is the lowest and best overall composite bid received and,
therefore, recommends that said bid be accepted.
