ACQUIRED 5800 BUILDING '- AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, after advertising, receiving and opening bids on November 4, 1993, for the renovation of the City's recently acquired building located at 5800 Shier-Rings Road; and WHEREAS, Council has determined that the lowest and best bid for said project is from Gutknecht Construction Company in the amount of $312,700; and WHEREAS, the City's lease for space occupied by the Department of Development at 5131 Post Road has expired and the monthly lease extension is levied at a premium rate and expires December 31, 1993; and; WHEREAS, the Division of Maintenance, Bureau of Parks Maintenance, is in great need of space to house and maintain equipment and consolidate its temporary office facilities into a central location; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the annual appropriations to provide sufficient funding for the renovation project and related costs; NOW, THEi:FORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State "".... of Ohio, of the elected members concurring: Section 1. That the bid from Gutknecht Construction Company in the amount of $312,700 to renovate the City-owned building located at 5800 Shier-Rings Road is accepted . Section 2. That the City Manager and Finance Director be, and hereby are, authorized and directed to execute a contract with Gutknecht Construction Company for completion of said project pursuant to the bid specifications and documents on file in the office of the Department of Development. Section 3. That there be appropriated from the unappropriated balance in the General Fund the amount of $400,000 to Account #01-02-15-2723 for the purpose of transferring funds to the to the Facility Acquisition Fund. Section 4. That there be appropriated from the unappropriated balance in the Facility Acquisition Fund the amount of $400,000 to Account #45-03-14-2530 for the purpose of renovating said facility, designing the modifications, paying for related fees, and equipping said facility. Section 5. That this Ordinance be, and hereby is, declared to be an emergency measure r--- due to the fact that the City is currently paying a premium for rental space at 5131 Post Road, and that the lease extension provided for said space expires on December 31, ...... 1993, and to preserve the public health, safety and welfare and, therefore, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage. MEMORANDUM TO: Dublin City Council FROM: Tim Hansley prepared by Peter Lenz RE: 5800 Building, Shier Rings Rd. DATE: November 10, 1993 Attached, for your information, is a summary breakdown of bidding for the renovation of the 5800 Building (the former Romanoff Building) . The low bidder is Gutknecht Construction. The Administration is recommending an award of a contract for base bid and alternate A-2 in the amount of $312,700.00 to Gutknecht Construction. We are also recommending award of a contract for supplemental electrical work, which because of the short nature of the bidding period, will be received at 2:00 p.m. on November 15. The low bidder and cost will be provided to you that evening and will also require emergency legislation, as discussed at our previous two council meetings. It is essential that this project begin on November 16 in order to enable the Development Department to relocate prior to the first of January when the current lease extension expires.
