Passedn . u .n.u_u uu__J9.u. \ ---- - ~--- --- I AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE MAYOR'S CHILD CARE I ADVISORY COMMITTEE AS A PERMANENT ADVISORY "".. COMMITTEE AND TO SET MEMBERSHIP STANDARDS FOR THE CHILD CARE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ..... WHEREAS, the Mayor's Advisory Task Force on Child Care was I created under Resolution No. 32-90 in order to make recommend- ations to Dublin city Council regarding the status of avail- able quality child care in the City of Dublin; and, WHEREAS, council has endorsed the establishment of a permanent I child care advisory committee to ensure that the needs of the community are addressed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORD~INED by the Council of the City of Dublin, state of Ohio, {~ of the members concurring: section 1. That the Child Care Advisory Committee is hereby established, consisting of concerned citizens, representing both public and private sectors of the city. Membership shall consist of one representative from Dublin city Schools, two representatives from Dublin businesses, two citizen members and two child care professional representatives. Members shall be appointed for the following terms: One ( 1) Dublin City Schools Representative for a one-year term; Two (2) Business Sector Representatives, each from a separate Dublin business, for two-year terms; two (2) child care professional r- representatives for three-year terms; and two (2) citizen \ ~ representatives for three-year terms. , ..... Dublin citv Schools Re~resentative. A. The school repre- sentative shall serve a one (1) year term. This individ- ual shall be employed by the Dublin city Schools and shall be recommended by the superintendent of Dublin City Schools. I B. Business Sector Representatives. Two business sector I representatives shall serve two-year terms. While the businesses represented must be within incorporated Dublin boundaries, the representatives are not required to be Dublin residents. C. Child Care Professional Representatives. Two child care professional representatives shall serve three-year terms. D. citizen Representatives. Two residents of the city of Dublin shall serve as representatives for three-year terms. Section 2. Staqqerinq of Terms In order to provide continu- ity to the Committee, initial terms shall be staggered as "... follows: ... A. One child care professional representative shall serve a one (1) year term. The position shall then be reappoint- ed or vacancy filled to serve three-year terms thereafter. I B. One child care professional representative shall serve a two (2) year term. The position shall then be reappoint- ed or the vacancy filled to serve three year terms there- I after. The members of the Commission shall be appointed by Council, shall serve no more than two consecutive terms, and shall receive no compensation. All members' terms, regardless of actual appointment date, shall commence on January 1 of the given year, and end in accordance with the number of year(s) stated above on December 31 of the final year of the stated term. Committee is to make recommendations to Dublin city Council regarding the status of quality child care and issues related to child care in the city of Dublin which affect the residential and working populations. section 4. That through community outreach, research activities, and intergovernmental coordination, the Committee seeks to assess a wide range of child care resources for infants, pre-schoolers, toddlers and school-aged children, seeking to identify child care needs in the city and resources available to meet those needs. section 3.
