AN ORDINANCE TO ACCEPT THE LOWEST/
BEST BID FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS
".- AT VILLAGE PARKWAY/DUBLIN CENTER DRIVE,
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
.........
WHEREAS, after advertising, receiving and opening bids on
May 29, 1991, for traffic signal improvements at Village
Parkway/Dublin Center Drive; and,
WHEREAS, Council has determined that the lowest and best bid
for said project is from M.P.Dory Company in the amount of
$54,685.38.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of
Dublin, state of Ohio ~ of the elected members concurring:
section 1. That the bid from M.P. Dory Company in the amount
of $54,685.38 be, and hereby is, accepted.
section 2. That the City Manager and Finance Director be, and
hereby are, authorized and directed to execute a contract with
M.P. Dory Company for completion of said project pursuant to
the bid specifications and documents on file in the office of
the City Engineer.
,.- section 3. That there be appropriated from the unappropriated
balance in the CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT TAX FUND the sum of
.'""- $4,536.38 to account 40-03-14-2551.
section 4. That this Ordinance be, and the same hereby is,
declared to be an emergency measure for the preservation of
the public peace, health or welfare of the residents of this
City, and therefore this Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force immediately upon its passage.

SUBJECT: Village Pkwy/Dublin Center Drive Traffic Signal

The City previously opened bids on this project. We discovered after the
opening that some important specifications were omitted from those bid
documents. Therefore, we did not seek Council authority to enter into a
contract.
The project was advertised again with all appropiate specifications. Two bids
for the installation of this signal were received and opened on Monda~ May
29th.
M. P. Dory Co. submitted the low bid of $54,685.38. Jess Howard Electric Co.
submitted the other bid of $56,700.00.
The estimate for this project is $64,000.
It is recommended the City Manager be authorized to enter into a contract
with M. P. Dory Co. for the installation of this traffic signal.

We ~e requesting that Connell not introduce legislation which would
authorize the Manager to enter into a contract for the installation of this
signal.
Because of an oversight, certain key specifications were not included in the
bidding documents. These specifications would have required equipment
compatibility between this signal and the Columbus tn\ffic signal system on
Sawmill Road. 'Ibis signal is to be interconnected with and opGl'ate in
conjunction with those on Sawmill Roe..d.
We will again advertise this contraot boginning next week and include the
oorrect specifications. With this schedule J we should be bringing legislation
for Council action at the first meeting in June.
