Passed____._._._.__.._._n.____n__._.__..19. n". f" AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THREE NEW DISPATCHER \- POSITIONS WITHIN THE DIVISION OF POLICE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Council has determined, upon the recommendation of the city Manager and the Director of Personnel & Purchasing, that the need exists for three new Dispatcher positions within the Division of police; and, WHEREAS, council has determined that said positions are necessary to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness within said Division; NOW, THEREFORE,~IT ORDAINED by the Council of the city of Dublin, state of Ohio, of the elected members concurring: Section 1. That three new Dispatcher positions are hereby authorized. section 2. That an amendment to the 1992 appropriations shall be submitted after the annual salary and benefit costs have been determined. section 3. That this Ordinance be, and hereby is, declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for further reason that selection procedures for these positions need to be initiated immediately; therefore, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage. Hansley, City Manager I (}-~ SUBJECT: Creation of Three New Dispatcher Positions Within the Division of Police . ~ DATE: May 28, 1992 INITIATED BY: David L. Harding, Director of Personnel & Purchasing At the May 18, 1992 Council Meeting, Council adopted Ordinance No. 76-92 authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract with Washington Township for the provision of dispatching services. During the discussion involving said Ordinance, staff noted that in order to provide said services to Washington Township, three new Dispatcher positions would need to be authorized by Council. At that time, staff indicated it would draft legislation for Council consideration at the next meeting of Council on June 1, 1992. Therefore, attached for consideration, please find Ordinance No. 85-92 authorizing three new Dispatcher positions within the Division of Police. Please note that Ordinance No. 85-92 has been drafted as emergency legislation. staff respectfully requests that said legislation be considered as an emergency for the reason that selection procedures for these positions need to be initiated immediately in order that the services identified in the Contract with Washington Township may be provided in an effective and efficient manner.
