Subject: Ordinance No. 08-97 -Amendments to the Annual Appropriations Ordinance
Date: February 19, 1997
Initiated by: Marsha I. Grigsby, Director of Finance `M~
The following provides additional information for the requests to amend the annual appropriations.
Section 1. In past years, seasonal employees working in Grounds (Parks Maintenance) were not
provided uniforms. In order to provide a uniform appearance for employees working in our parks
and to be consistent with the Division of Streets and Utilities which has provided uniforms for
seasonal employees, it was decided to provide uniforms for seasonal employees working in Grounds.
However, the funding for the uniforms was not included in the 1997 Operating Budget. The request
for additional appropriations will provide the necessary funding.
Section 2. The 1997 Operating Budget did not request any funding for equipment used in
maintaining the City's traffic signals. Several pieces of equipment including an arrow board for the
vehicle used by the Traffic Signal Technician, a portable compressor, and a monitor tester have been
identified as necessary and will be purchased with these funds.
Section 3. This section requests $20,000 in additional funding for the installation of a school
crossing signal at St. Bridgid's school as approved by City Council at the February 3, 1997 Council
meeting. This section also includes $73,000 for easements and rights-of-way acquisition for twenty
five property owners with regard to the Coffman Road widening project. These funds are for the
property owners who settled without having to go to court. As you will recall, there were numerous
ordinances on the February 3, 1997 Council meeting agenda for the property owners who did not
settle and funds were being deposited with the Franklin County Common Pleas Court.
