AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND A CERTAIN
SECTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 52-81,
THE VILLAGE OF DUBLIN, OHIO
COMPENSATION PLAN
WHEREAS, the Personnel Director, working with the Parks and Recreation
Director have done a thorough analysis relative to establishing the
position of PARKS MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, and;
WHEREAS, the Village Manager has concurred with the establishment of
said position and hereby recommends same to the Village Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin,
State of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring:
Section 1. That Section 8.1 "Salary Plan" of Ordinance No. 52-81 be
amended by adding the following position and annual salary range as
follows:
Position Salary Range
Parks Maintenance Supervisor $18,000.00-$25,000.00
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after the earliest period allowed by law.

SUBJECT: Compensation Plan
DATE: January 23, 1987
The Personnel Director, Mr. Harding, after a thorough analysis of Mr. Fred Hahn's
job duties and responsibilities as a Parks Maintenance Worker, has concurred
with Ms. Jordan, Parks and Recreation Director, that Mr. Hahn's job has evolved
into a Supervisory position.
Section 3.13 of the Code of Personnel Practices and Procedures states that the
Compensation Plan may be amended by Council on the recommendation of the Manager.
I am, therefore, recommending the establishment of the position of PARKS MAINTENANCE
SUPERVISOR and recommending a salary range of $18,000.00 minimum to $25,000.00
maximum and an Ordinance has been prepared for your consideration of this matter.

PARKS MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
General Description of Position and Duties
Under general direction of the Parks and Recreation Director, supervises
and coordinates the Parks and Recreation Department's park and recreational
facility maintenance program. The incumbent of this position exercises
independent judgment in the direction of a crew of Park Maintenance Workers
performing a wide range of park and facility maintenance activities through
the use of specialized hand tools and/or various types of motorized equipment.
The incumbent also prioritizes and schedules maintenance and repair activities
on a da i 1 y basis, instructs Maintenance Workers in proper maintenance
procedures and safety practices, and procures necessary equipment and
materials.
Examples of Work (Illustrative Only)
-,- Directs the work of Park Maintenance Workers in the of grounds,

fac i li ties and plantings (i. e. fertilizing and pesticide application
to plants and shrubs, regrading and landscaping park areas, etc.)
"k Coordinates a maintenance and repair program for all ball diamonds, tennis
courts, soccer fields, basketball courts, shelter houses, play equipment
and park grounds. Maintenance and repair activities involved include:
painting and repair of playgrounds, inspection of playground equipment,
dragging and regrading ball diamonds, maintaining turf on athletic fields,
mowing at all parks, trimming trees and shrubs, etc.
.~ Coordinates improvement projects at park sites required (e.g. laying

-,- Operates and directs Park Maintenance Workers in the operation of motor-
ized equipment (i. e. backhoe, roller, tractor mower, front-end loader,
chain saw, weed sprayer, dump trucks, etc. ) .

power tools.

* Ability to demonstrate good physical condition in order to maintain physical
effort when required.
Required Education/Experience
* Completion of a High School, G.E.D. or equivalent course of study.
* Three years park, grounds, and facility maintenance experience, one year of
which in supervisory capacity. Two years of classroom education/training
in the field of landscape, park management, forestry, natural resources,
recreation management, or related field may be substituted for two years
of required experience as stated above.
* Possession of an Ohio Public Operator's License for pesticide applicat~on
as required by Section 921.08 of the Ohio Revised Code. (See NOTE below.)
~ Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
NOTE: Section 921.08 of the Ohio Revised Code requires anyone working for a
governmental agency who either applies or supervises the application of
general or restricted-use pesticides to obtain a Public Operator's
License as issued by the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
