AN ORDINANCE ZMENDING SECTION 1189.08
OF THE DUBLIN PLANNING AND ZONING CODE
PERTAINING TO JOINT IDENTIFICATION SIGNS.
WHEREAS, the Dublin Sign Code must be amended from time to time to
reflect current trends; and
WHEREAS, there exists an imbalance between the current maximum size of
a joint identification sign now allowed by Code and the size of existing
joint identification signs;
WHEREAS, the control of sign size has been found to be necessary to
protect the public health, safety and/or welfare:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, 7 of the elected members
concurring that:
Section 1. That Section 1189.08(a) be amended as follows:
Joint Identification Signs. Joint Identification signs identifying the
project name of a shopping center or other building complex shall be
permitted for three or more combined permitted uses of the same lot.
A joint identification sign shall be limited to one ground sign,
shall not exceed the maximum allowable height for the uses involved
(see table in Section 1189.06) and shall be allowed in addition to the
permitted signs of individual occupants. The area of the sign shall
not exceed twenty-five percent (25%) of the total allowable ground
sign area for the combined uses; in no case shall the total area of a
joint identification sign exceed * 80 * square feet. A second joint
identification sign of the same size is permitted, if the site fronts
on two streets, provided that the frontage on each street is more
than 600 feet. For all buildings or complexes designed and/or
intended for multi-tenant usage, a total sign plan which must conform
to all requirements of this section must be submitted before any sign
permit for the complex or an individual tenant will be issued.
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect at the earliest
period allowed by law.
