AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.
102-89 - REGULATING STREET SIGNAGE
IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN
WHEREAS, the Public Service Committee developed a series of recommendations
regulating street signage in the City of Dublin; and
WHEREAS, Dublin City Council adopted those recommendations in Ordinance No.
102-89; and
WHEREAS, the Public Service Committee has subsequently determined that
certain provisions of this legislation need to be changed:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State
of Ohio, 6 of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. Standard street signage within the City of Dublin shall conform
to the following requirements: I
(a) All signs to be brown with reflective white letters mounted on brown
four-sided breakaway posts;
(b) Signage for residential streets shall be 9" by 36" in size. Signage
for main streets shall be 12" by 48".
(c) All new developments must include the standard street signage and
such signage shall be in place prior to final acceptance of the
development by the City. The developer shall be responsible for the
initial installation of street signage, and, after final acceptance,
the City is responsible for street signage maintenance and replace-
ment.
~ Section 2. Existing non-standard or distinctive signage shall conform to

~ ~ ~ been previously approved as part of a Planned Unit Development, may

~ ~ be retained so long as reflective lettering is utilized thereon;

; ~ (b) When the need arises to replace an existing non-standard or distinctive
.~ ~ sign, the replacement signage must have reflective white letters and
l :: the post must be of a breakaway type, as approved by the City.

1 ~ (c) As to areas located within the control of a civic or neighborhood
~. M association, said association shall be required to purchase and

.~ g obtain conforming signage. Such signage shall either be installed I
~ t by the association in a manner approved by the City or, if the

.~ ~ association requests, by the City. The City shall charge the civic
= ~ or neighborhood association a fee for installation of sign posts not
~ Q) to exceed $75.00 per post per installation.

S ~ Section 3. When a subdivision requests that the City remove non-standard
C ~ or distinctive signage and/or post, and install standard signage, no fee

- .$ shall be assessed for said removal and replacement of those signs. However,
f .= the City shall determine, based upon budgetary concerns, the timing of
f ~ such removal and replacement. Any distinctive signage and/or posts removed
i ~ by the City shall become the property of the City.
~ ~ Section 4. All signage within the City of Dublin shall be brought into
conformance with the terms and provisions set forth herein within thirty
six (36) months from the effective date of this Ordinance, except that
non-standard signage within the City shall be modified to include white
reflective paint within eighteen (18) months of the effective date of
this Ordinance.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after the earliest period allowed by law.
