BY: David L. Harding, Director of Personnel & Purchasing~
After advertising and receiving bids for road salt for the time period
covering November 1, 1990 through March 31, 1991, said bids were opened at
10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 12, 1990. Attached for your consideration
please find the bid tabulation and Ordinance No. 93-90 accepting the lowest &
best bid. As reflected in the attached bid tabulation, the City received bids
from the following vendors:
* Morton International, Inc.
* Domtar Industries, Inc.
* AKZO Salt, Inc.
* Cargill, Inc.
After evaluating the bids from the above referenced vendors, it is staff's
judgement that the bid submitted by Morton International, Inc. in the amount
of $32.75/ton is the lowest & best bid. Therefore, staff recommends that said
bid be accepted. Funds for the purchase of road salt were authorized in the
1990 Operating Budget.
