Sulser 6665 Coffman Road Dublin, Ohio 43017 Dear Ms. Jordan, The re-bids for the Dublin Municipal Swimming Pool were opened November 23, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. The five bids received ranged from $917,213 to $1,017,000. The low base bid from Gutnecht Construction Company is approximately 3.5% less than the next low bid from McClellan Construction Company, and approximately 7.7% below our published estimate. The Gutnecht Construction Company total bid for all the alternates is also below the next bidder and our estimate. Al ternate # 1 is the addition of a swimming pool heater which would warm the water in chilly weather. Alternate #2 would provide two additional swimming lanes for recrea- tional or competitive swimming. Alternate #3 is the addition of an automatic chemical feed system which would monitor pool water conditions and treat the water automatically. Al ternate #4 would provide an ornamental "wrought iron" looking fence around the entire perimeter of the pool. Al ternate #5 is the addition of a lawn watering system inside the pool fence area. Al ternate #6 would provide benches, chairs, trash receptacles and picnic tables for various locations around the pool. Alternate #7 is the addition of cabanas which would provide shading for swimmers at the wading pool and along the west side of the pool. Although it is unfortunate that this project had to be rebid, it is fortunate that the bids offer a $38,287 reduction in the base bid from the original bid, and an even more favorble reduction in some of the al ternates. . Ms. Janet Jordan November 24, 1987 Page Two These seem to be very remarkable bids and offer the city an excellent opportunity to build a swimming facility. Therefore, it is our recommendation to accept the Base Bid and all Alternates from the Gutnecht Construction Company and enter into a contract for $1,006,316. Yours very truly, Ca.ut~ p~ Robert N.
