TO: ALL CONTRACTORS
SUBJECT: Fire Hydrant Permits
All Contractors:
Effective immediately, during the winter months, November 1 through March 31,
the City of Dublin will be issuing special permits to contractors desiring to
use fire hydrants in the City of Dublin, The fee for this permit will be
$25.00 for each day of usage, which is in addition to the cost of water used,
In the past, the use of fire hydrants has been permitted with the understanding
the user would flush and pump the hydrant after use to prevent the hydrant
from freezing, This policy, however, has failed and the City has had numerous
frozen hydrants. The new special permit is an attempt to alleviate this
problem,
There are three hydrants which may be used, They are located at the Post Road
water tower, the corner of Dublin Center Drive and Federated Boulevard, and
the west end of Dublinshire Drive, They will be designated by an orange tie,
Under this new permit the contractor to whom the permit is issued will be
responsible for all damages to the hydrant(s), The user will call the City
Maintenance Department for inspection of the hydrant after each use, If this
inspection reveals that the hydrant has not been properly pumped or if the
contractor requests the City to pump the hydrant, an additional fee of
$25,00 will be imposed,
A valid permit must bear two signatures. The signatures of the City Manager or
his designee, and the Washington Township Fire Department Chief or his designee,
