(Revised) Passed . -- ------------ __19m AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A $25.00 PERMIT FEE FOR THE USE OF FIRE HYDRANTS IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO, AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring that: Section 1. Effective immediately, during the winter months (November 1 through March 31) of each year the City of Dublin will be issuing special permits to contractors desiring to use fire hydrants, Section 2, The fee for this permit will be $25,00 for each day of usage, which is in addition to the cost of the water used, Section 3, Under this permit the contractor to whom the permit is issued will be responsible for all damages to the hydrant(s), including damage caused by the freezing of the hydrant(s), The user will call the City Maintenance Department for inspection of the hydrant(s) after each use. Section 4. There will be a fee of $25,00 imposed if the City is requested to pump th~ hydrant after use by the contractor or if the final inspection by the Maintenance Department reveals that the hydrant has not been properly pumped, Section 5. There are three hydrants which may be used, They are located at the Post Road Water Tower, the corner of Dublin Center Drive and Federated Boulevard, and the west end of Dublinshire Drive, These hydrants will be designated with an orange tie, Section 6, A valid permit must bear signatures of the City Manager, or his designee, and the Washington Township Fire Department Chief, or his designee, Section 7, This Ordinance be, and the same hereby is, declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the public health, safety, and welfare and for the further reason that this project should be initiated as soon as possible and therefore this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage, Passed this 16th day of November 1987, ~ , Mayor - Presiding Officer Attest: , hereby certify that copies of this Ordinance/Resolut;~f' were posted in the Vil!age of Dublin in accordance I' ~h Section 731.25 0; the 010;0 r:cv;s':'d Code, /? /7 7j2 t'ft/c-CL.J YJtthU--~<J ~. Clerk of Council Clerk of Cou il "00 e~ o/!>>uM;/l 6665 Coffman Road Dublin, Ohio 43017 TO: ALL CONTRACTORS SUBJECT: Fire Hydrant Permits All Contractors: Effective immediately, during the winter months, November 1 through March 31, the City of Dublin will be issuing special permits to contractors desiring to use fire hydrants in the City of Dublin, The fee for this permit will be $25.00 for each day of usage, which is in addition to the cost of water used, In the past, the use of fire hydrants has been permitted with the understanding the user would flush and pump the hydrant after use to prevent the hydrant from freezing, This policy, however, has failed and the City has had numerous frozen hydrants. The new special permit is an attempt to alleviate this problem, There are three hydrants which may be used, They are located at the Post Road water tower, the corner of Dublin Center Drive and Federated Boulevard, and the west end of Dublinshire Drive, They will be designated by an orange tie, Under this new permit the contractor to whom the permit is issued will be responsible for all damages to the hydrant(s), The user will call the City Maintenance Department for inspection of the hydrant after each use, If this inspection reveals that the hydrant has not been properly pumped or if the contractor requests the City to pump the hydrant, an additional fee of $25,00 will be imposed, A valid permit must bear two signatures.
