MEMORANDUM
TO: Council Members
FROM: Patrik G. Bowman
SUBJECT: Personnel Addition
DATE: July 28, 1988
In consideration of the present work load, as well as future work program
responsibilities, it is requested that a staff planner position be added
to the present authorized personnel of the Planning Department.
The immediate objective will be to properly delegate the current day to
day responsibilities, so that our work outside of public meetings can be
accomplished within an eight hour day. With the addition of one more
planner, the Department will be sufficiently large enough to slightly
reorganize to permit the delegation of supervisory responsibilities
within functional areas.
There are a number of work program items that have been pending for some
time. Code revisions, driveway and curb cut regulations and various
small area plans are programs that will be taken on if the zoning load
were to diminish. The Department will again take a major role in preparing
the 1989 capital improvement plan. A major department goal of 1989 will be
the installation and operation of a computerized information base which
may be used by all departments within the City for a variety of applications.
