OkDINANCE NO. 28-85
AN ORDINANCE TO ALIEND THE TRAFFIC CODE
TO COMPLY WITH CURRENT STATE LA\<l
~mEREAS, House Bi 11 632 and Amended Sub Senate Bill 169 and
Amended Senate Bill 231 has revised certain sections of the
State Traffic Code pertaining to the displaying of a temporary
license on a motor vehicle effective March 28, 1985, and
\JHEREAS, the new law provides an effective method to control
and enforce the display of temporary license placard on motor
vehicles, and
HHEREAS, the Ohio Constitution requires Ordinances which are
enacted as an exercise of the municipalities police powers to
comply with general state law;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by Council of the Village of
Dublin, 7 members concurring that:
Section l. 'rhat Section 335.09 ~s hereby ar:lended to read
as follows:
335.09 DISPLAY OF LICENSE PLATES; EXPIRED OR UNLAWFUL PLATES -

a. No person who ~s the owner or operator of a motor
vehicle sha 11 fail to properly display on the front and rearof
such motor vehicle the distinctive number and registration mark,
including any validation sticker issued under Ohio R. C.
4503.191 and county identification stickers provided by Ohio R.
C. 4503.19, furnished by the Ohio Director of Highway Safety,
except those persons expressly exempted by Ohio R. C. Chapter
4503 ( t'lotor Vehicle Licensing Law) and except that a
manufacturer of motor vehicles or dealer therein, the holder of
an intransit permi t, and the owner or operator of a house
trai ler, trailer, or semitrailer shall display on the rear only.
Such number plates sha 11 be securely fastened so as not to
swing. (ORC 4503.21)
No person to WhOlil a temporary license placard or windshield
sticker has been issued for the use of a motor vehicle under
section 4503.182 (4503.18.2) of the Revised Code, and no
operator of such motor vehicle, sha 11 fail to display such

temporary license placard in plain view from the rear of the
vehicle either in the rear window or on an external rear surface
of the motor vehicle, or fai 1 to display such windshield sticker
in plain view on the rear windo\->, of the motor vehicle. (ORC
4503.21)
Section 2. This Ordinance sha II take effect and be in
force from and after the earliest period permitted by law.
