AN ORDINANCE DELINEATING THE POWER AND
AUTHORITY OF THE BUILDING INSPECTOR IN
REGARD TO THE VARIOUS TYPES OF INSPEC-
I TIONS HE PERFORMS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Dublin, State of Ohio,
b of the elected members concurring:
SECTION 1. Following the issuance of a building or construction permit,
the Building Inspector shall cause to be made such inspections and in-
, vestigations as are necessary to determine whether or not the work done
and installations made are in conformity with the approved plans re-
lating thereto and the pertinent laws and ordinances of the State of
Ohio and the Village of Dublin.
SECTION 2. The following inspections shall be required in construction
of a new, one, two, and three family residential buildings or structures
and, as applicable, to additions, remodeling and improvement of other
structures:
1. Sanitary Sewer (where applicable)
2. Footers
3. Foundation
4. Structural, electrical, and plumbing
5. Heating
6. Drive, approach, sidewalk and curb (where applicable)
I 7. Free standing fireplaces and heating stoves
8. final. When building or structure is completed and
ready for occupancy.
SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the permit holder or his agent to
notify the Dublin Building Inspector who shall make all such inspections.
SECTION 4. The Building Inspector, or his duly authorized representa-
tive, may enter upon the premises at any reasonable time in the per-
formance of their duties, except no such employee shall enter a part
of a building which is "private" and occupied as such, until such time
he has shown his credentials to the occupant thereof and secured his
permission to enter such private part of the building.

SECTION 5. The holder of a building permit, the general contractor,
and every other person, firm or corporation having charge or super-
vision of any building or operation covered by this ordinance shall
be responsible for compliance with its provisions. In case of a vio-
lation hereof, such persons, firms and corporations and any other per-
son, firm or corporation violating or participating in the violation
of any of the requirements hereof shall be subject to a fine not to ex-
ceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per violation. The continued viola-
tion of any provision hereof shall constitute a separate offense for
each and every day such violation shall continue.
I SECTION 6. The Building Inspector may, due to additional requirements
of this Ordinance or when he "deems' it necessary, require additional in-
spections, which shall be noted on the building record or attached thereto.

SECTION 7. A. Upon written request of an owner or occupant of improved -'- --,_.
real estate, or an authorized representative of such owner or occupant,
the Building Inspector shall inspect such property to determine its con-
formity or non-conformity with the provision of the Dublin Building Code
and applicable municipal ordinances. If requested by such owner or occu-
pant or the authorized representative of either, he shall prepare and
submit to such person a written statement of his findings. A fee of
$20.00 shall be charged and collected for each instance of such inspection.

SECTION 7. B. No liability of any kind shall attach to or exist against
· the municipality or any of its officers or employees by reason of any
claim of error, omission or neglect on the part of such officers or em-
· · ployees in connection with such inspections or the findings or report
thereof.
SECTION 8. Nothing contained herein shall be deemed to limit the right
of the Building Inspector to make inspections of property in this Munici-
pality without charge, on his own initiative or at the request of the
,.. . owner or occupant when there is a specific question as to compliance
with building codes or as to the safety of such property.
_ SECTION 9. Upon completion of the final inspection and acceptance of
the premises as in compliance with the regulations and ordinances for
human occupancy, holder shall be issued an occupancy permit which shall
be required prior to actual occupancy of the subject premises.
SECTION 10. No person or persons shall occupy any dwelling or structure
for which an occupancy permit shall be required by the Village prior to
the issuance of said occupancy permit. Whoever violates this Section,
shall be fined not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). Each day of
occupancy in violation of this section shall constitute a separate offense.
SECTION 11. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after the earliest period allowed by law.
