A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A CITY MANAGER FOR AN INTERIM
PERIOD AND AUTHORIZING A TEMPORARY PAY SUPPLEMENT

WHEREAS, Jane S. Brautigam, City Manager, has accepted a new position as City
Manager of Boulder, Colorado and has tendered her resignation from the City of Dublin,
effective September 26, 2008; and
WHEREAS, Council has retained a consultant to assist them with the search process for
anew City Manager, and the consultant estimates a timeframe of approximately four
months for completion of the search process; and
WHEREAS, Council has determined that appointment of a City Manager for the interim
period prior to the appointment of a new City Manager is in the best interest of the City
and will ensure continuity during this transition; and
WHEREAS, Council approved a motion on September 8, 2008, appointing Marsha I.
Grigsby as City Manager for an interim period beginning September 27, 2008,
authorizing a 30 percent temporary pay supplement for the interim period and directing
staff to draft legislation to effect this appointment.
NOW, TH~REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State
of Ohio, of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. Marsha I. Grigsby, Deputy City Manager/Director ofFinance is hereby
appointed City Manager for an interim period commencing September 27, 2008 until the
effective date of appointment of a new City Manager.
Section 2. Ms. Grigsby shall have all of the powers and duties of the City Manager, as
outlined in Section 5.04 of the Revised Charter, during the term of this appointment.
Section 3. During this interim period, Ms. Grigsby will be provided with a 30 percent
pay supplement in recognition of the performance of the duties of Deputy City
Manager/Director ofFinance and City Manager. All benefits which are provided to City
employees within the adopted Compensation Plan and amendments thereto shall continue to
be provided to Ms. Grigsby during this period of time.
Section 4. In accordance with Section 4.04(a) of the Revised Charter, this legislation
shall take effect upon adoption.

Summary
In accordance with the motion approved by Council on Monday, September 8, attached is
Resolution 69-08, appointing Marsha Grigsby as City Manager for the interim period beginning
September 27, 2008, providing a 30 percent pay supplement for this interim period, and
providing for the continuation of all of her current employment benefits.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of Resolution 69-08 at the Monday, September 15, 2008 Council
meeting.
