A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE LEADERSHIP
DUBLIN HEARTSAFE PROJECT

WHEREAS, sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of natural death among adults
in the United States, and 93 percent of Sudden Cardiac Arrest victims die; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that the combination of early bystander CPR plus
early defibrillation produces the highest survival rates from adult sudden cardiac arrest;
and
WHEREAS, Dublin HeartSafe is a community-based initiative designed to encourage
Dublin businesses to have a readily accessible automatic external defibrillator (AED)
and employees who are trained to use it; and
WHEREAS, the Dublin HeartSafe Project is a collaborative effort of Leadership
Dublin and Washington Township Fire Department with the goal of providing AEDs at
locations throughout Dublin to ensure cardiac arrest victims can be defibrillated within
four minutes following cardiac arrest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State
of Ohio, ,~ of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. Dublin City Council hereby endorses the Dublin HeartSafe Project and
encourages businesses and other entities throughout the community to purchase AEDs
and place them in their buildings so that they are available to the public.
Section 2. All citizens are further encouraged to seek training in the use of AEDs through
the Washington Township Fire Department.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest date
permitted by law.
