Dear Mrs. Headl.ee,
0 Pursuant to your suggestions at the meeting between you
and the members of the Executive Committee of the Dublin
Historical Society, we offer the fol.lowing suggestions
regarding future use of the Coffman House as a Dublin museum.
We feel that the Coffman House, dating from about l.862
and being a fine example of the sturdy nineteenth-century
farmhouses in Washington Township, would be a fine addition to
the roster of village-owned local museums, as well as a
repository for scattered collections of mem~rabilia now existing
in the Dublin area and for that matter, throughout Ohio.
If this museum comes into being, we anticipate restoring
the buil.ding, furnishing it with antiques having significance
to the Dublin area and there housing a research library for
scholars of local history. We will encourage its use by
various interest groups with the thought that it must be given
a useful. purpose for today.
0 We anticipate that the use of the building and some
surrounding grounds woul.d be acquired by the Society on a
long term lease basis. The annual rental would be a nominal.
sum. The Society would be responsible for restoration and
maintenance of the entire building both interior and exterior.
The Society would also develope in conjunction with the
Village planners, a plan designating fu:ure sidewalks extending
from the Coffman House to the Village Municipal Building,
the reconstructed springhouse and an enhancement of the
existing setting. As a token of good faith on our part,
some of these things could be done, perhaps, even before the
building becomes available.

We understand that occupancy by the Dublin Historical
Society would be subject to the life tenancy of Mrs. Coffman.
Details regarding restoration, alterations, maintenance
responsibilities and insurance, etc., would be worked out
0 when the lease is prepared.
Very truly yours,
