A RESOLUTION TO ENDORSE THE BOND ISSUE
FOR THE COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER
WHEREAS, The Dublin City Council has placed a bond issue for a Community
Recreation Center on the November 6, 1990 ballot; and
WHEREAS, the Community Recreation Center bonds will be issued by the City
of Dublin for the purpose of paying costs of constructing, furnishing and
equipping a multi-purpose Community Recreation Center and improving the site
thereof in the principal amount of $11,500,000 to be repaid over a maximum
period of twenty years; and
WHEREAS, bonds for the Center will be issued up to $11.5 million, but not
all at once. City Council will be issuing the bonds over a period of about
five years so that no new taxes will be required; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin has conducted extensive research to determine
a need for a Community Recreation Center. The 1987 Community Plan designated
Coffman Park as a logical area for a recreational center to serve the Dublin
community. In 1988 the Parks and Recreation Commission began to study the
feasibility of a Community Recreation Center. Community focus groups conducted
Summer, 1990 and a telephone survey conducted Fall, 1990 indicate that the
Dublin community favors a Community Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, the Community Recreation Center ws designed by a team of professional
and community representatives based on needs and affordability. The result
is a manageable and financially responsible Center for Dublin with facilities
for recreation, the arts and community groups; and
WHEREAS, participation in our Parks and Recreation Department programs indicate
a community that is active and seeks many recreational outlets. In fact,
. the Parks and Recreation Department has shown a steady increase in the number
of programs offered and the number of people served.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Dublin, State
of Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. We do resolve to endorse Issue 5, the Community Recreation Center
Bond Issue, on the November 6 ballot. We urge all Dublin citizens to support
Issue 5.
