MEMORANDUM
TO: Members of Dublin City Council
FROM: Timothy C. Hansley, City Manager /~
SUBJECT: Requests for Advance of Taxes Collected
DATE: April 28, 1992
INITIATED BY: Marsha 1. Grigsby, Director of Finance
The attached resolution is being requested for cash management reasons.
Ohio law allows local authorities to receive advances of taxes collected to the
credit of their account. By requesting advances for our real estate and
personal property tax collections, we will receive our money sooner and
therefore be able to invest those funds and earn additional interest income.
We are able to request and receive up to 90% of the amount available of the
current collection of taxes and assessed and collected. I am estimating that
over the course of a full year, we will be able to earn an additional $7,500
(based on current interest rates).
At the beginning of each year, a similar resolution will be presented. At the
time of requesting the advance, a request form will be completed and signed
by the City Manager and the Director of Finance.
