TO CONTINUE ITS PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL ROAD CONSTRUCTION

II WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Transportation has cooperated with local governments in I
Ii the construction and maintenance of state routes which also serve as important arterial roadways
!i for communities across the State of Ohio; and

!i WHEREAS, the City of Dublin currently contains approximately 155 miles of state highway,
!i including State Route 745, State Route 257 and State Route 161/U.S. 33; and

il WHEREAS, State Route 161/U.S. 33 provides access to I-270 - a major commuter route for
;! employees in Central Ohio and a key factor in attracting new economic development to the area;
,I and
WHEREAS, over the next 5 years, the City of Dublin has committed over $87 million to capital
projects for road improvements serving the region, including Emerald Parkway - a major east
west collector which will ease the congestion on existing interstate and state routes - and the
widening of State Route 161 in the City of Dublin; and
WHEREAS, funding maintenance and construction for state routes in the City of Dublin will
reduce the local funds available for needed infrastructure to accommodate the commercial and
residential growth in the Central Ohio area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of
Ohio, J7 of the members concurring that:
Section 1. The City of Dublin urges the Ohio Department of Transportation to continue its
participation in the construction and maintenance of local roads for the benefit of all citizens of
the State of Ohio.
Section 2 This resolution shall be effective upon passage in accordance with Section 4.04(a) of
the Revised Charter.
