IMPLEMENTATION OF A COOPERATIVE FORMAL I 'I I [i BUSINESS RETENTION AND EXPANSION PROGRAM I il BY THE CITY OF DUBLIN AND THE DUBLIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, I Ii. AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, I I 'i WHEREAS, Dublin City Council had prepared and subsequently adopted an Economic ii Development Strategy prepared by Mt. Auburn Associates, and I , i ,I . II WHER~A~~ said study i?entifies as on~ of the c~~munity's. highest econom~c develop- 'I' II ment pnontIes the retentIOn and expansIOn of eXIstIng DublIn-based companIes, and I , i I WHEREAS, Dublin City Council recognizes the vital importance of enhancing and I ' preserving the City's commercial property tax base, and ' I i WHEREAS, Dublin City Council recognizes the need to develop strategies to continue i to improve the business climate of the City and help existing businesses to remain I competitive and expand their current levels of operation within the City, and I I WHEREAS, the City of Dublin wishes to reaffirm its commitment to implement a . cooperative public/private economic development program with the Dublin Chamber of I I Commerce as expressed in Resolution 40-92, and I i I I WHEREAS, the City of Dublin and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce have agreed to I co-sponsor a Dublin Economic Development Partnership which will serve to develop, I ! guide and implement the City's economic development strategies, and , I I WHEREAS, Dublin City Council believes that the immediate implementation of such a I Business Retention and Expansion Program is of critical importance to the economic I health and well-being of the local community; ! NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State ! of Ohio, 7 of the elected members concurring: , I I I i Section 1. That the Dublin City Council hereby agrees to enter into a partnership with I I the Dublin Chamber of Commerce to jointly undertake the Business Retention and I Expansion (R&E) Program as offered by the Ohio State University Cooperative I I Extension Service and as recommended by the City's Economic Development Strategy. I Section 2. That the City of Dublin and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce will share the cost of the program with the City's share amounting to the $1,890.00 purchase price of the model from Ohio State University Cooperative Extension Service, and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce's share to include the cost of all other support activities i connected with conducting the program. I I Section 3. That this Resolution be, and hereby is, declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare and, therefore, this Resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage.
