Hansley, City Manager Initiated By: Frank Ciarochi, Assistant City Manager/Director of Development d(J...'L/ Re: Contribution to "NO ON STATE CONTROL OF PROPERTY RIGHTS" Date: September 27, 2001 As Council is aware, a proposed referendum of SB5 has been organized by the "NO ON STATE CONTROL OF PROPERTY RIGHTS" Committee. Council has previously authorized a $1,500 contribution to cover legal expenses in preparing and submitting the preliminary petition to the State for certification. We previously reported to Council that this has been accomplished and that petitions are now in circulation. An additional contribution is being requested to assist with legal and consulting fees to obtain the necessary signatures (6% oflast gubernatorial vote across the State, representing at least 44 counties with at least a 3% gubernatorial vote from the last election). It should be noted that the use of City funding could only be applied to efforts to place this issue on the ballot. . . not to support or defeat the measure.
