Re: Resolution 29 -09 Accepting the Lowest and Best Bid for Dublin
Recreation Center Locker Room Renovation Project
Summary
On Thursday June 18, 2009 bids were opened for the Dublin Community Recreation Center Locker
Room Renovation Project. This project consists of: 1) modifications to the floor slope and drains
to correct problems with standing water; 2) installation of new floor and wall tile with a color
scheme that complements the rest of the facility; 3) modifications to the ventilation systems to
improve air flow; 4) minor changes to the lighting systems; and 5) new ceiling tile. In the men's
locker room, the multi - station shower assembly will be removed and replaced with two more
individual shower stalls.
This project will require that the men's and women's locker rooms be closed for an estimated
period of 4 to 6 weeks. Our preliminary schedule is to close the locker rooms in early August and
re -open after Labor Day. The entire facility will be closed for the annual shutdown period from
August 29 ° ' through Labor Day, September 7" . The four family changing rooms will remain open.
Current plans are to renovate the family changing rooms as well as the restrooms in the main lobby
m2010. Staff is exploring ways to minimize the impact of the locker room closure on patrons.
The total amount budgeted for this project is S225,000. Six bids were received and the low bidder
for the base bid plus two alternates is Memmer Construction with a total bid of $180,300. An
analysis of their bid and references indicates that the company possesses the skill and experience to
successfully perform the work required in this project. The total cost of this project, including
architectural and engineering fees, is 5208,700.
Recommendation
Staff recommends adoption of Resolution 29 -09 accepting Memmer Construction's total bid of
$180,300.
