HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/24/1997 RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Minutes of Special Meeting of Dublin City Council Meeting DAY70N LEGAL BLANK CO., FORM NO. 1014 Held February 24, 1997 19 Mayor Kranstuber called the Special Meeting of Dublin City Council to order at 7:00 p. m. on Monday, February 24, 1997. Council members present were: Mayor Kranstuber, Vice Mayor Stillwell, Mr. Campbell, Mrs. Boring, Mr. McCash and Ms. Hide Pittaluga. Mayor Kranstuber moved to adjourn to executive session for discussion of personnel matters. Mrs. Stillwell seconded the motion. Vote on the motion -Mayor Kranstuber, yes; Mr. Campbell, yes; Mrs. Boring, yes; Mr. McCash, yes; Ms. Hide Pittaluga, yes; Mrs. Stillwell, yes. The meeting was reconvened at 8:00 p. m. Mrs. Stillwell reported that she would like to send a letter of support to Rep. Debra Pryce regarding seeking federal funding for the I-270/I-71 interchange improvements in order to facilitate traffic movement throughout the north outerbelt. There was no objection from Council members to sending such a letter. Mayor Kranstuber moved to appoint John Reiner to fill the vacancy for a Ward 3 representative on Council. Ms. Hide Pittaluga seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously. Mayor Kranstuber will notify the press of the appointment this evening. Mrs. Stillwell reported that the board and commission interviews are scheduled for Saturday, March 1 in Council Chambers beginning at 8 a. m. " Ms. Hide Pittaluga indicated that she will be unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict. " Mrs. Stillwell commented that the City will host the Leadership Dublin program on Wednesday, March 19. It will be structured with a dialogue format similar to last year's program. Staff will host sessions for the group during the daytime, and Council will host the evening session. More details will follow at a later date. Brief discussion followed about the recognition program for the schools which has been initiated on an informal basis by Mayor Kranstuber working with Lynda Sirk of the Dublin Schools. Council members agreed that this is a positive program and it should focus for the most part on group achievements versus individuals, unless there is a unique and outstanding individual achievement. Discussion followed about the process for notifying the Council candidates who were not appointed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m. ayor -Presiding Officer ~i`/hn~ Clerk of Council
