ACCEPTING AN ANNEXATION OF 79.0 ACRES, MORE OR LESS,
FROM DARBY TOWNSHIP, MADISON COUNTY TO THE CITY OF
DUBLIN (PETITIONER: CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO)
WHEREAS, a Regular Annexation petition for 79 acres, more or less, from Darby
Township, Madison County to the City of Dublin was filed in the offices of the
Madison County Commissioners on April 2, 2025, by Thaddeus M. Boggs,
| Attorney/Agent for Petitioner, City of Dublin, Ohio (‘the Property”); and
WHEREAS, the Madison County Commissioners approved the annexation
|| petition via Resolution 137-26 on January 27, 2026; and |
| WHEREAS, the area proposed for annexation is owned by the City of Dublin,
| Ohio.
| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
|| State of Ohio, “TL of the elected members concurring that:
Section 1. The petition for the annexation of 79.0 acres, more or less, to the
City of Dublin is hereby accepted.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the
earliest date allowed by law.

Annexation Acceptance +/- 79.0 Acres from Darby Township, Madison
County (Petitioner: City of Dublin, Ohio)
BACKGROUND
On April 2, 2025, Thaddeus M. Boggs, Attorney/Agent for Petitioner, City of Dublin, Ohio filed a
regular annexation petition with Madison County. The petition is for 79.0 acres, more or less, to
be annexed from Darby Township, Madison County, to the City of Dublin.
The petition was filed as a Regular Annexation so that, following acceptance, the City of Dublin
could conform the boundaries of the area into Washington Township as per the City’s
longstanding practice. The City adopted its municipal services resolution in March 2025, and the
County Commissioners held a hearing and initially denied the annexation petition in June 2025.
The City appealed the decision and the Madison County Court of Common Pleas overturned the
denial and ordered the Commissioners to accept the annexation in November 2025.
The Madison County Commissioners granted the annexation on January 27, 2026 pursuant to
the Madison County Common Pleas Order, via the Commissioners’ Resolution 137-26.
Upon acceptance by the City, the Law Director will initiate the boundary adjustment proceedings
to bring the 79.0 acres into Washington Township so that it can provide all necessary fire services
to the property.
RECOMMENDATION
This Property is owned by the City of Dublin and the City of Dublin and its partners can provide
all necessary municipal services. Staff therefore recommends approval of Ordinance No. 24-26.
