Re: Ordinance 32-25 – Renaming of a portion of Eiterman Road to Heritage
Boulevard in the City of Dublin, Ohio
Summary
Considering the roadway improvements within the West Innovation District (WID), the overall
street system will add and align various roadways within the WID over time. In December 2024,
City Council approved Resolution 65-24, accepting the lowest and best bid for the Eiterman Road
Relocation Project. This project is currently under construction and will realign a segment of
Eiterman Road from the south side of the current roundabout at the intersection of State Route
161/Post Road to a proposed new roundabout approximately 1,300 feet south of State Route
161/Post Road. Please refer to the attached exhibit at the end of this memo which depicts this
portion of the roadway.
This portion of roadway is proposed to be renamed to clarify way-finding to the traveling public
and avoid any confusion in the provision of emergency services. The eastern leg of the proposed
roundabout will retain the name Eiterman Road and reconnect to the existing alignment of
Eiterman Road. The section of the proposed roadway from State Route 161/Post Road south to the
proposed roundabout, will eventually continue further to the south connecting to the future phase
of University Boulevard.
Staff proposes renaming the northern portion of Eiterman Road to Heritage Boulevard from State
Route 161/Post Road to the realigned Eiterman Road roundabout (an approximate length of 1,300
feet). No existing structures or parcels are officially addressed from this portion of Eiterman Road.
Staff has coordinated this proposed roadway renaming with Ohio University leadership and they
fully support the name change to Heritage Boulevard.
Eventually, Heritage Boulevard is expected to extend to the south/southwest to intersect with the
future phase of University Boulevard. The existing portion of Eiterman Road within the project
limits is expected to be vacated after the completion of the Eiterman Road Relocation Project.
Therefore, after this future extension and vacation, the roadway names and street network will be
established in a more typical and expected manner.
Recommendation
Staff recommends the adoption of Ordinance 32-25 at the second reading/public hearing on July 1,
2025, to rename a portion of Eiterman Road to Heritage Boulevard in the City of Dublin, Ohio.
