HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-88 ResolutionRECORD OF RESOLUTIONS National Graphics Corp., Cols., O. ~' tlg~~j~ Form Ho. 6233-A Resolution ~'~;, 06-88 ------____-- Passed -----____-- 19-- -------------------------------- A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE PERRY TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES REGARDING THE PROVISION OF TOWN- SHIP SERVICES TO THE CITY OF DUBLIN WHEREAS, the residents who Live in that portion of the City of Dublin which also lies in Perry Township are paying levies to the township for police service and road maintenance; and WHEREAS, the City of Dublin desires to cooperate with the Perry Township Board of Trustees in identifying a means whereby these taxes can be eliminated; and WHEREAS, there is a legal means whereby the Perry Township Board of Trustees may reduce the area to which they provide services. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring: Section 1. That the City Manager be authorized to negotiate and enter into an agreement with the Perry Township Board of Trustees in order to realize the aforementioned goals. Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law. Citrk of Council, Dubtin, Ohio MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL AND THE PERRY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Dublin who live in a portion of the City included within the boundaries of Perry Township are paying Township tax levies for police service and road maintenance; and WHEREAS, the City of Dublin desires to cooperate with the Perry Township Board of Trustees in identifying a means whereby this double taxation can be eliminated; and WHEREAS, a legal means exists whereby the Perry Township Board of Trustees may reduce the area in which said Township currently provides police and road maintenance services so as to exclude the portion of Perry Township lying within the corporate limits of the City of Dublin; and WHEREAS, said reduction to this service area would eliminate the double taxation currently being assessed against Dublin residents living within Perry Township; and WHEREAS, Dublin City Council via resolution number 06-88 has authorized the City Manager to negotiate and enter into an agreement with the Perry Township Board of Trustees regarding this matter; NOW THEREFORE, the present Dublin City Council and the present Perry Township Board of Trustees hereby agree to work toward accomplishing these goals, with the full understanding that this agreement constitutes an expression of intent and is not meant to be legally binding on the parties. SECTION ONE The Perry Township Board of Trustees shall attempt to reduce the Township's Road and Police Districts, so as to exclude the portion of the Township lying within the corporate limits of the City of Dublin. SECTION TWO In exchange for the Township reducing its police and road districts, the City of Dublin agrees to retain fire services at their current levels from Perry Township for at least the next three (3) years.
