AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME
OF WICHITA STREET TO WICHITA
DRIVE IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN, OHIO
WHEREAS, the Franklin County Auditor's office has notified the City of Dublin
of a discrepancy between the official street name of Wichita Street and the street
name being used, Wichita Drive; and
WHEREAS, City staff recommends that the street name for Wichita Street be
changed to Wichita Drive; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Engineering and Division of Police have reviewed this
request and determined such action would not be detrimental to the public health,
welfare or safety; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin,
State of Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring, that:
Section 1 The name of Wichita Street is hereby changed to Wichita Drive.
Section 2 The City Engineer is hereby directed to have the County records
corrected to conform to this change.
Section 3 This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the
earliest date permitted by law.

Re: Ordinance 14-09 -Changing the Name of Wichita Street to Wichita Drive
Summary
It was brought to staff's attention by the Franklin County Auditor's Office that there is a
discrepancy between the street name suffix that was issued for Wichita Street and the street
name suffix being used, Wichita Drive. The City of Dublin issued addresses for Wichita Street
on December 17, 1986. Records indicate that the majority of residents are using Wichita Drive
instead of Wichita Street. Staff believes the developer installed street signs showing Wichita
Drive. The posted sign is most likely the reason residents utilize Drive instead of Street.
On March 2, 2009, Engineering staff sent a letter to the nine residents (shown on the attached
exhibit) that would be affected by this change and requested a response by the close of
business on March 10, 2009 if they had any comments or concerns. Staff has not heard from
any of the residents. As a result, staff requests authorization to proceed with the official street
name suffix change to Wichita Drive.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of Ordinance 14-09 at the second reading/public hearing on April
6, 2009.
