A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN SUPPORTING THE
OHIO COMMISSION FOR THE UNITED STATES
SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL (AMERICA 250-OH)
WHEREAS, The 135" Ohio General Assembly and Governor Mike DeWine created
AMERICA 250-OH in Ohio Revised Code Section 149.309 to plan, encourage, develop
and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States and
Ohio’s integral role in that event and the role of its people on the nation’s past,
present and future; AND
WHEREAS, AMERICA 250-OH strives to engage ALL Ohioans and ALL 88 counties
through a variety of programs, projects and events through 2026 by inspiring future
leaders and celebrating Ohio’s contributions to the nation over the past 250+ years;
AND
WHEREAS, by adoption of AMERICA 250-OH Resolution we hope to educate,
preserve, innovate and celebrate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin, l
of its elected members concurring, that: hereby establishes a local AMERICA 250 —
Dublin Committee to work with AMERICA 250-OH on all activities within the City of
Dublin; and
Section 1. The City of Dublin agrees to designate one or more liaisons within 30
days of the adoption of this Resolution who will serve as the point of contact for all
local organizations, stakeholders, and communities within their City; and
Section 2. A copy of this resolution will be sent to the Council of the City of Dublin
and AMERICA 250-OH Commission headquartered at 41 S. High St., Suite 250,
Columbus, OH 43215.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force upon passage in
accordance with Section 4.04(a) of the Revised Charter.

Re: Resolution 16-24 - America 250-OH Community Designation
Background
At the March 25, 2024 City Council meeting, the opportunity to become an America 250-OH
Community was discussed. Council was supportive of staff’s proposal to seek designation. Staff has
since applied to be an America 250-OH Community and engaged both Visit Dublin Ohio and the
Dublin Historical Society to participate on our committee. This proposed resolution is the final step
to become an official America 250-OH Community.
Summary
The 135th Ohio General Assembly and Governor Mike DeWine created AMERICA 250-OH in the Ohio
Revised Code Section 149.309 to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of
the 250th anniversary of the United States and Ohio’s integral role in that event and the role of its
people on the nation’s past, present and future. AMERICA 250-OH strives to engage all Ohioans
and all 88 counties through a variety of programs, projects and events through 2026 by inspiring
future leaders and celebrating Ohio’s contributions to the nation over the past 250+ years.
AMERICA 250-OH has invited all levels of communities from across the state to apply to be an
official AM 250-OH Community. To apply to become an AM 250-OH Community, the community
must pass a resolution to educate, preserve, innovate, and celebrate the commemoration of the
250th anniversary of the United States. In addition to passing a resolution, the community must
also create a committee comprised of the appropriate governmental office and at least one local
cultural, civic or corporate partner who will serve as the AM 250-OH community liaisons in
conjunction with planning the local communities’ events, activities and programs. Staff anticipates
many celebration opportunities such as the theme of the 2026 Independence Day Parade, Abbey
Theater performances, historical camp ideas and more.
In return, AM 250-OH Communities receive special recognition including signage, logo on the official
website, event promotion, digital toolkits, potential grant funding, and access to an online
community platform with other AM 250-OH Communities.

Recommendation
Staff recommends the approval of Resolution 16-24 to designate the City of Dublin as an official
AM 250-OH Community.
