Re: Resolutloon Noo 31-19 BId Acceptance for 2019 Guardra'11 Replacement
and Maintenance Project
The Engineer"s estimate for this project is $135,000. The budgeted funds for the 2019 Guardrail
Replacement and Maintenance project in the 2019-2023 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) are
$170,000 in account AT19A. The bids received are higher than the Engineer's estimate and are likely
due to the potential of rock excavation when installing guardrail posts and storm sewer on Riverside
Drive.
Paul Peterson Company submitted the lowest and best bid of $148,474.20. Staff has reviewed all bids
submitted and a summary of the bids received is listed below.
As Council is aware, there are a number of other CIP projects that are transportation related to be
performed in 2019. Given the relatively small amount,, $7,974.20, that this contract would exceed the
budgeted funds (after consideration of the $29,500 design contract), staff anticipates being able to
cover the shortage using other budgeted funds.
Staff anticipates construction to commence in August 2019. Streets impacted by the guardrail
construction will remain open to traffic for the duration of the construction. The completion date for
the project is October 25, 2019.
