Mr.
Adamek
Mr.
Peterson
Mr.
Hahn
Ms. Hide Pittaluga called the Public Services Committee to order at 6:25 p.m., noting that
tonight=s topic is sign standardization for parks.
Mr. Hahn gave a presentation to the committee regarding the proposed signs for City parks.
Several different alternatives for sign design were presented. Mr. Hahn stated these signs can be
produced in-house for a cost savings. The symbol of the shamrock is the universal logo for the
City of Dublin. He stated that most of the parks are contained within a PUD. Some of the more
unusual cases in terms of signage would be Coffman Park, which includes the Municipal
Building, Community Recreation Center, Watch House art piece, and the Fletcher Coffman
historic homestead. Including all of these in one sign with bullet points would not be compliant
with the sign code. Some of the designs have the street number along the side, as well as in the
upper right hand corner of the sign. The material for the sign would be of a a sandblasted type of
substance. All proposed signs have three standard colors - two shades of green and white. All
signs would be a maximum of 15 square feet. The base of the signs could be in stone or
landscaped, depending upon the site.
Mr. Peterson noted he liked the idea of producing these in-house which would be more
economical. He does not have an issue with granting a slight variance from the sign code under
certain circumstances.
Mr. Hahn stated he would prefer all signage to be uniform internally within city parks.
Mr. Adamek moved to recommend to City Council the combined sign concepts in Exhibits C, E
and H and to have the signs produced in-house.
Ms. Hide Pittaluga seconded the motion.
Motion carried unanimously to recommend this to Council at tonight=s meeting.
Ms. Hide Pittaluga suggested that Mr. Hahn provide the Committee members information on the
final design for the park signage when that is prepared.
On a related note, Mr. Hahn stated that it has been traditional in Dublin to name parks after the
subdivision, i.e., Donegal Cliffs Park, etc., but some of the Trinity Park residents are not
satisfied with that name.
There was no further discussion as the Council meeting was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m..
Ms. Hide Pittaluga adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
