HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 062-18RECORD OF RESOLUTIONS BARRETT BROTHERS - DAYTON, OHIO Form 6301 Resolution No. 62-1-R Passed A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID FOR THE BRAND ROAD BOOSTER STATION IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, formal advertising and competitive bidding procedures have been conducted, pursuant to Section 8.04 of the Dublin Revised Charter and Chapter 37 of the Dublin Code, for the Brand Road Booster Station Improvements Project; and WHEREAS, Council has determined that the bid submitted by Peterson Construction Company constitutes the lowest and best bid. NOW, TH REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of Ohio, 1-1 of its elected members concurring that: Section 1. The Alternate 1 bid (including Base Bid items) submitted by Peterson Construction Company in the total amount of $353,640.00 is hereby accepted. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into contracts with Peterson Construction Company for performance and completion of the Brand Road Booster Station Improvements Project pursuant to the Advertisement, Proposal and Contract Documents for said project on file in the office of the City Engineer. Section 3. This Council further hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager, the Director of Law, the Director of Finance, the Clerk of Council, or other appropriate officers of the City to prepare and sign all other agreements and instruments and to take any other actions as may be necessary to implement this Resolution and complete the Project. Garwick, P.E., Senior Civil Engineer Memo Re: Resolution No. 62-18 Brand Road Booster Station Improvements — Bid Acceptance Summary On September 25, 2018, three (3) bids were received, publicly opened, and read for the Brand Road Booster Station Improvements project. The Brand Road Booster Station is located at 4751 Brand Road (the southwest corner of Brand Road and Dublin Road). This project includes the installation of three (3) new pump motors, three (3) new pumps, and various electrical, control panel, and painting upgrades to the existing Brand Road Booster Station. There were two alternate bid items for this project. Alternate 1 includes the Base bid items with the addition of pavement resurfacing of the entire site. Alternate 2 includes the Base bid items with a modification to type of three (3) pumps in the base bid (alternate operating point). Alternate 2 does not include pavement resurfacing of the entire site. The Engineer's estimate is $570,000 for the Base bid. The budgeted funds for the Brand Road Booster Station Improvements project are $570,,000 from account EW174, Water Distribution System Capital Enhancements. The location of the Brand Road Booster Station is depicted on the map below. Engineering 9 9 staff will ensure that appropriate traffic control and site restoration are performed as necessary before the project is completed and closed out. No interruption in water service is anticipated for residents of Dublin located within the water pressure district served by this booster station. These improvements will result in more reliable water service and improved efficiencies with the new pumps specified. Peterson Construction Company provided the lowest and best Base bid of $328,800.00, as well Rs the lowest and best bids for both Alternates 1 and 2. Staff has reviewed all bids and a summary of the bids is listed below. This Brand Road Booster Station Improvements project will commence in December of this year and is to be complete by 3une 1, 2019. Staff recommends Council approval of Resolution No. 62-18, accepting as lowest and best the bid of Peterson Construction Company in the amount of $353,640.00 for Alternate 1 (includin,.g, Base Bid items), and authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract with Peterson Construction Company for this project.
