The higher bids above our Engineer's estimate can be attributed in part to the stone veneer and asphal),
work exceeding our estimate by approximately $9,000. We believe The Righter Co.,, Inc. bid for the
stone veneer and asphalt work is reasonable and appropriate.
Staff anticipates the majority of the construction will start in March 2018. An interim completion date of
May 18, 2018 is required for all work except painting the H -Pile retaining wall, which shall be completed
by August 31, 2018. Work at the tunnels will require closure to all pedestrian and bike traffic. Staff will
coordinate with the Muirfield Association and The Country Club at Muirfleld Village (CCMV) on the
closure schedules.
In accordance with Ordinance 99-15,. CCMV is responsible for the replacement/repair of the path insid
the Memorial Drive tunnel near Holyrood Court. The CCMV will reimburse the city $2,780.00 for
replacement of the deteriorated path in this tunnel. I
Staff has thoroughly reviewed the bid from The Righter Co., Inc. Previous experience with The Righter
Co., Inc. has been very favorable, including these projects: Avery-Muirfield Drive over U.S. 33 Barrier
Improvements (2009) and Dublin Road (S.R. 745)/Brandonway Drive Bikepath Tunnel (1998).
Staff recommends Council approval of Resolution No. 74-17, accepting as lowest and best the bid of The
Righter Co.,, Inc. in the amount of $198,782.00 and authorizing the City Manager to enter Into a contract
with The Righter Co., Inc. for this project,
